LUDHIANA: A few days after TOI highlighted the issue of dengue spreading in the city due to lack of hygiene and waterlogging in SBS Nagar, the health department on Saturday started fogging and spraying anti-larva fluid to prevent breeding of mosquitoes.
TOI had recently reported the panic among residents due to dengue death in city. While the health department never bothered to spray any anti-larva liquid, the Improvement Trust dug up a road in SBS Nagar two months ago, leading to waterlogging.

On Saturday, the Improvement Trust filled up the dug-up area and health officials started fogging.
Arvind Sharma, a resident of E block, said he had been writing to the authorities for one month to clean the area but it was all in vain. "On Saturday, we were relieved to see cleaned surroundings," he said. Another resident Om Prakash said he was surprised to see that the authorities had filled up the pit. "We were extremely worried to know about the spread of dengue," he said. H S Balli, civil surgeon, said they had done fogging and sprayed anti-larva liquid in SBS Nagar. "We are working towards making the city clean and prevent the spread of disease in city," he added.
